A Bake Holiday.— Saturday next being St Patrick's Day, and a statutory bank holiday, the banks will be closed all day, though, as the holiday is a regular annual one. no notification of it has been given by advertisement. Pioneke Bicycle Club. — Matters in connection with this club's race meeting on Saturday next are almost complete. A large number of visitors will compete, and most of them are expected to arrive to-day. At a meeting of the committee held on Tuesday evening, Mr A. Gundersen was elected timekeeper in lieu of Mr England, the latter gentleman having to decline to act owing to business engagements. The track is in first-class order, and, given fine weather, the meeting will be a really good one. The committee has made arrangements for a smoke concert in the evening, and as the club has a number of talented members r this also should be a success.
