WORK AND WAGES.
[Special to Press Association.! SYDNEY, Feß~s. The efforts of the miners to induce the surfacemen and shiftmen in the Stockton colliery to throw the mine idle have proved futile. The latter remember when their wages were recently reduced 10 per cent that the miners looked on with indifference, and made no attempt to aid them to resist the reduction. MELBOUBNE, Feb. 5. The Government has received information from Capetown showing that the labour market in the Colony is fully supplied, and that anyone going there has little prospect of getting work.
