The State Farm Difficulty.
[Peb Pbsbs Association.] WELLINGTON, Jan. 30. The Levin Natives, who interviewed the Premier last night, pointed out thab the land in question was the only land they aave, and, aB they were in indigent circum- ] stances, they looked to the Government to make the fullest enquiry into tbe title. Mr Edwards, counsel for the Natives, said tbat no doubt the block was tribal land, and ought to be held for about one iundred and thirty others, who reside on it. _here was, he contended, no doubt, that :he Native Land Court made a mistake in ;he first instance, and the records of the Jourt would show that, in a great number >f these subdivisions, a trust was intended :o be oreated. Tbe Premier said that tbe title was -.bsolutely in the hands of Major Kemp md Huina, whom he suggested the Natives ihould interview ; and if these two owners were willing to concede anything by way jf gift, the Government, if possible, would ilso help the Natives. He warned the Natives against lawlessness. Ultimately Mr Seddon promised to send an expert to inspect the land, with a view to reporting is to whether the Natives had been fairly Jealt with by Hnina.
