a [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Jan. 20. The Cabinet this morning decided to transfer Mr Eawson, Eeoident Magistrate at Invercargill, but his destination or euccesaor is not determined yet. A long discussion took place as to the appointment of returning officers to conduct the licensing elections. The question has arisen whether they should be appointed by the Governor or the local authorities. The matter is deferred. The Cabinet resumes this afternoon.
