SWIMMING.
SYDENHAM AMATEUR SWIMMING CLUB. On Saturday afternoon the members of the Sydenham Amateur Swimming Club held their second annual exhibition of water sports in the Sydenham Borough Council's bath. The following are details of the various events *.— 50yds Inter-Club Handicap; first prize, trophy, value 30s; seoond value 10a. — First heat : F. H. Shaw (Richmond), Msec, 1; C. Low (Eichmond), 7iaec, 2; A. E. Eoper (East Christchurch), scr, 3. W. A.. Howison (Sydenham), 6£sec and W. Betts (Sydenham) 12sec also started. Won by a yard ; a foot between second and third. Second heat: J. E. Butterfield (Eichmond), lOsec, 1 ; S. Longuet (East Christchurch), Bsec, 2; W. Patterson (Sydenham), 2£seo, 3. W. A. Hall (Sydenham) ssec and R. Hampton (Sydenham) 18sec also started. Won very easily by four yards ; half that distance between Becond and third. Third heat: F. Ward (Richmond), Bsec, 1 ; W. Sheard (Sydenham), 13sec, 2; H. Hiorns (Eichmond), 6sec, 3. C. Kent (Sydenham) 3sec also started. Won by a foot ; inches only between second and third. Fourth heat : W. Shaw (Richmond), BJsec, 1 ; W. Fabin (Sydenham), ssec, 2; C. Dowding (Sydenham), Bsec, 3. Won easily by five yards. Final heat: F. H. Shaw (Kichmond), Msec, 1; J. R. Butterfield (Richmond), lOaec, 2; W. Shaw (Eichmond), B£sec, 3. F. Ward (Richmond) Bsec also started. A good race. Won by a foot ; inches only between second and third. Ward two yards away. 25yds Junior Race. — C. Hadfield 1, J. Howison 2, G. Howison 3. "W. Howison, F. Cooper and A. Rusboll also started. Neatest, Header. — C. Burnham (Sydenham) 1, C. Low (Richmond) 2, A. E. Eoper (East Christchurch) 3. C. Kent, W. A. Howison and P. G. Taylor alao competed. 25yds Back Eace.— A. E. Roper (East Christchurch), scr, 1 ; J. R. Butterfield (Eichmond), 2sec, 2. W. Fabian (Sydenham) 2sec also started. Polo Match, Eichmond v. Sydenham.— The Richmond Club played with only six men. There was no score in the first , spell, although Russell (Sydenham) was within an ace of scoring for hiß side. In the second spell Ward and Dunnage played a fine game for Eichmond, 'the I latter scoring from a good throw by Ward.
