©. AUCKLAND TBAINING NOTES. ' £P,eb Peers Association.! AUCKLAND, Dec. 19. There wns a large muster of visitors io the Ellersli© racecourse this morning, and a fairly interesting morning's work. Ab Skirmisher rtnd Dilemma came through the rails and deployed on to the ploughed ' track, all eyes were centred on the southern- ■ owned pair. They cantered to the six- ■ furlong post, and ran about a mile and • three - quarters, in which Skirmisher showed to most advantage. The 1 Vanguard colt, who is apparently a beautiful-tempered, horse, moved very freely during his gallop, and appeared to have much more than his weight up. ■ The Workman and Coalscuttle jumped; off 1 together on tho plough from about the fivefurlong poet, and the King Cole mare 1 accompanied the Cup horse round tho seven - furlong post, when the former dropped out and Pegasus accompanied hie stable mate. The pair rattled home over the last half-mile very merrily, but though the brown horse did not penaeptibly roll at the finish, he seemed quite ] agreeable to his task concluding. The Workman showed symptoms of lameness ! on being pulled up, which it is understood was due to his having struck himself dur- , ing the gallop. Loyalty and Boeefeldt trotted once round at a snail's paca on the plough, but when they got oppoait9 t the judge's box the boys got the office, and the pair broke away for a fast gallop, and completed the circuit in fine style, Eosefeldt more than holding her own, bat the St George colt is a proverbially lazy worker, and he waa being ' hunted along at the finish. Brown Alice i put in a circuit alone on the plough, when she was joined by Royal Boae, but the '. sister to Strathmo're had the King Cole colt in trouble all the way. Brown Alice moved freely and well throughout the gallop, ', and seemed to hang it out all right. Brigand was associated with Sunbeam and Vivat over about seven t'urlonga on the course proper, the Cup horse finishing in \ the rear. Waterbury put in a fast three | miles at a good working pace. He is very forward, but seemed to be i Bl;ghtly lame after his work to-day. Fishmonger went a couple of miles in his usual free style, and Despised, who is in great buckle, aho pnt in satisfactory work. Belmontwai scratched for the Hurdle | Race as soon a3 the weights appeared. Cleopatra has been scratched for the ' Nursery Handicap. 1 Messrs Pyne and Co. held a sale of thoroughbred stock at their horse bazaar yesterday, when a number of lots were ' offered on behalf of Mr E. Butherford. 1 Buyers, however, were conspicuous by their 1 absence, and very few animals changed | hand3. The well-known stallion Artillery - failed to elicit a bid. The following lots • were sold : — Bay mare Miss Webster, by 1 Manuka — Fussy, 35gs, Mr E. Derrett; chestnut mare Luna, by Troducer — Flying 1 Fish, 50gs, Mr A. E. G. Rhodes ; chestnut : mare Madcap, by Malton — Tantruma, 1 15gs, Mr A. E. G. Ehodes; bay mare ■ Nellie, 15£gs, Mr A. E. G. Ehode3 ; Sweet- > briar, by Traducer, 15gs; Mr A. E. G. ' Ehodes; Stewardess, 26ge, Mr A. E. G. 1 Rhodes. Acceptances for various minor events to 1 be decided upon the first day's racing of > the Auckland Racing, Club's Summer > Meeting close to-day.
