There axe imitations of Eucalypti Extract in the market, products of simple distillation, forming crude resinoua oils, In order that these orude oils may not be taken for our Pure Volatile Eucalypti Extract, which is recognised by the medioal division of the Prussian Government to be of per. lectly pure origin, as per information forwarded to us threugh the Consul at Melbourne, March 2, 1878 we state:— It is proved by tests made by the Medioal Clinioß of the Universities at Bonn and Qreifswold (Prussia), and reported by Dr Shulz, Professor of Pharmacology at Bonn, aud Professor Dr Hosier, Direotor of the Medioal Cliaio at Greifßwald, that only products that aro saturated with oxygen and free of acids, resinous and other substances, adherent to primary distilla tion, will develop the sanative qualities proper to the plant. All orude oil. or 80-oalled Eucalypti Eztraots are to be classed according to the named authorities among the turpentines which are of insignificant medicinal vnlu9, and abandoned long Binoo as an internal medicament. These cruda oils, or so-called Eucalypti Extracts, ore discernible— 1, By their deficiency iu pungent odour (whioh our product, the only genuine Eucalypti Extract, develops most freely through its surplus of oxygon). 2, By their alcoholic, taut, end mobilo appearanco beiug reduced in apcciSo density through the presence of acids. B. By their tasta, tho renult of the contrasting tendonoy of resins and tannts.
