A lady passenger from Wellington to Jondon by the Euabine writes to her son ts follows regarding the Brazilian revoluion: — "We had an awful experience at iio. Yellow fever was raging, but that srould not have prevented our going ashore tut for the revolution which had been ;oing on for three weeks. All the shop 3 ?ere closed, the railways torn up, the post ffice shut up, and the officials taken for oldieis. All the gentry had left the dace, and the streets were lined with oldiers. We had notice that they would lombard the fortress at one o'clock. The annon balls and bombshells were flying in .11 directions. You could see the flash of ire from them, and the noise was awful, tut as we hoisted the. British flag the aptain of the Brazilian man-of-war Jlowed us to pass before sunset. No easel could go out or come in to the larbour without his permission, or he rouldfireon them.
