ASHBURTON.
Great interest was taken in the election at Ashburton on Tuesday. As soon as the two booths were open they were rushed with voters, and, until midday a good deal of delay was caused by the booth at the Courthouse not being able to take the votes quickly enough, and fearing that tbere would be a block, Beveral loads of voters drove dcwn to Elgin, the nearest country booth, and voted there. After midday the rush of women voters was practically over, and from that time to the cloae everything went on smoothly, and no one was shut out. The election has been the moßt orderly ever conducted in the town. A lady was the first to record a vote, and a very large number of ladies voted during the day. The following are details of the polling :—
