FOOTBALL.
A meeting 1 of the Committee of the Can- '■ terbury Rugby Union will be held at the Clarendon Hotel at 5.30 p.m. to-day. The monthly general meeting will not be held this evening 1 , but a special general mealing will be held at an early date to wind up the business of the year. As a large number of Thursday flag players are under the impression that the Thursday seven-a-side tournament will be i held on the sao>e day as the other seven-a- -. side events, set down for decision on Saturday, Sept. 16, the Secretary desires to state that all the events open to Thursday flag playera will be decided on a ! Thursday afternoon. The Canterbury representative team met at the Clarendon Hotel last evening i to ee'eat a captain for the interprovincial match against Otago at Lancaster Park, on Saturday next. On the motion of Mr i L. Ebert (East Christchurch), seconded by , Mr A. Hobba (Linwood), Mr A. White, ; the Merivald captain, wa3 unanimously , elected to fill the position. The team is ; requested to meet for practice at the North Park at 4.30 p.m. to-day and Thursday. It ie expected that the Ofcago , representatives wi)l arrive by the express on Thursday evening.
