Conference of Athletic Clubs.

A conference of delegates from the athletic clubs of Ashburton met a deputation from the Domain Board on Friday evening for the purpose of considering the proposal of the Ashburton Athletic Association to take over the control of the Domain Sports Ground. The following clubs were represented :— Ashburton Cricket Club, Albion Cricket Club, Ariel Bicycle Club, Amateur Bicycle Club, Ashburton Football Club, and Ashburton Swimming 1 . Club. The following were present from the Domain Board -. — The Mayor aud tleasrs Sealy, Jones, Flower and Anderson. Mr C. Reid, Secretary of the Caledonian Society was also present, but no v t as a delegate, as his society had not held a meeting lately. Mr Thomas was voted to the chair. The deputation heard ani| didcussed with the meeting the proposals of the Association. On Mr Zander's option it was decided to offer the Board an annual rent of £25 for the control of the sports ground, the Association to pay all maintenance costs. Considerable discussion then took place as to the division of . costs between the various clubs and the meeting closed. _ _____ «_»____
