OBITUARY.

AUCKLAND, Sept. 2. D. H. Graham, well known in athletic circles, has died from Bright's diseare. EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE. WELLINGTON, Sept. 2. At a meeting of the Wellington branch of the Mew Zealand Educational Institute, the following questions were agreed upon for discussion at the Council meeting at Nelson in January next:—- (1) That the principle of freedom of classification be again affirmed, (2) That drawing be made a class subject, (3) That the Council again approach the New Zealand University to ask for the restoring of former concessions regarding degrees, (4) That a Court of Appeal for teachers be established, (5) That the Government pay on the working average.
