Never wash macaroni, the cooking water dissolves everything undesirable. Hiccough can be relieved immediately by administering a lump of sugar wet with vinegar. Silk handkerchiefs should be washed in clear water with Castile soap, and they will look like new. The addition of lemon juice to the water in which tice is boiled will increase the whiteness and help the grains to separate. Put French ohalk on silk or ribbon that has become greasy, and hold it near the fire. This will abßorb the grease, so that it may be brushed off. Fine emery paper and sweet oil are excellent, for polishing steel grates, &o. If your flat irons are rough, rub them with fine salt, it will make them smooth. When acid has been dropped on any article of clothing, liquid au.monia will kill the acid, aud then by applying chloroform, the colour, in most cases, will be restored.
