THE AUCKLAND ELECTION.

[Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, August 4. The polling for the election of a representative for the Auckland City seat in the Cadman-Rees contest is proceeding to-day. A great deal of interest has been caused by the election, which ia the most interesting electoral contest seen here for many | years. A very large number of votes has been recorded. So far, apparently, both , Bides are pretty evenly balanced. Messrs Cadman and Bees' supporters are working very hard to ensure their respective candidate's return. All available voters are being looked up. A number refrain from voting in the present contest. Party feeling runs high. The result of the poll will be declared about half-past eight this evening.
