A Burglar Scare.— The following is from a Wellington contemporary : —Around Fetone several false alarms are reported to have occurred, and the defender of tbe public peace at the Hutt (Constable Cruickshank) has, we believe, been called out on; more than one occasion in rotes dc nuit to disperse midnight marauders, Only laßt week, our informant states, the constable wbb seen in the early and chilly hours oE the morning, mounted on his bicycle and [ in his shirt sleeves, bearing down upon ft ! well-known resident's house at full speed.' Upon being enquired into, it appeared that he had been aroused from his slumbers to protect the inmates of the house against some bold burglar, who, upon investigation, proved to be a very much frightened servant girl about to do a " flit." There is no doubt that tho burglar scare ia at its height, notwithstanding that three of tbes? us welcome midnight visitors have been handed over to tho care of our local gaoler for mere or less lengthy terms. Those who drink Ceylindo Toa will not be satisfied with any other brand.-* [Advt.]
