The Prisoner Discharged.
[Peb Prbsb Association.] WELLINGTON, Apbil 8. In the Pahiatua murder case the witness Lowry deposed that he was riding along the road by which Jacobsen would have left the camp on the day he disappeared, and did not meet him. Mr Jellicoe animadverted on the fact that after two days' hearing no evidence of murder had been adduced, and no evidence cf any body being found. With respect to the charge recently made againat the accused, it appeared that Handbrook had sold out the camp things, and the charge would probably fall through. ' . Mr Graham, KM., dismissed the charge of murdering Jacobsen, against Smith, on the ground that the evidence is not strong enough to send the case before a Jury. In the larceny case no evidence was offered, and the prisoner was discharged. -
