These ia every indication fehat the general ! election, 'which will be upon us in the • course of a few month?, will be one of the most severe political struggles the Colony has ever seen. The Conservatives, exas- ; perated by their defeat at the last election, and by the subsequent falsification of their predictions of the ruin which that defeat was to bring upon the Colony, will make tremendous efforts to regain the power which they held for so many yoars, and which, they fear, has not only slipped from their grasp, but is even passing beyond their reach. Everything that money can do will be done to bring victory to the Tory side ia this straggle— one campaign in the great war raging all the world over between Mammon and Man. All the powers of the Press, the platform and the purse will fee employed to persuade the people that their true friends are those whose rule in the past is responsible for the evils which afflict the present. Among the means which will be used to carry on the Conservative battle, organisation will, doubtless, play a prominent part. It is for the Liberals to combat organisation by organisation, and the most important step to be taken in this direction is to see that each man qualified to vote is on the electoral roll. " Organise and register" should be the watchword of the Liberals of New Zealand at the present juncture. _____________
