PRESIDENT'S CUP MATCH.
United v. Midland.— This match wao brought to a oonciatfion at Hagtay Park: yesterday afternoon, when, after a good finish, the United were returned winners by 31 rune. Scores : — United, 158 and 87 f. Midland, 120 and 94 (Barge 26. Savage 18, not oat, Spencer 13 and Miller 12). Savage played very carefully for his runs, being at the wickets while 80 runs were soored; . Beckett bowled best for the winners, taking four wicketß for 20 rune* and the fielding was good until towards the finish when three catches were missed.
Cheistchttboh Vbtebans v. Banoioba. Borough Coukcii..— The above match waa played yesterday . at Hagley- Park, when the Veterans won easily by eight wickets and two rune. The Rangiora men batted fir-it and put op 52, of which Good soored 18 and Eeynolds 13. . The Veterans replied , to this with 109, Homer hitting hard for 61 not ont, whilst Longdin Bcored 13 in good style. The Councillors* second innings produced 84 mns. Good was again to the fore with' 25, Foster 14 and Costin 11. The Veterans scored the necessary runs for the loss of two wicketß (Homer 13), thus winning as above stated. Good was the visitors' best bowler, and Goring took most of the wickets for the Veterans. " • * • ■
