Mr Welch, in forwarding his resignation, explained that he was not aware he was doing wrong in accepting resignations on a blank. The Minister accepted tbe resignation. At the last sitting of the Educational Institute, there were forwarded to the Minister for Education a number of recommendations regarding drawing in schools. To-day the Hon W. P. Eeeveß and the Inspector -General of Schools visited some schools, and witnessed several drawing lessons. The chief of the Stock Department returned from a visit of inspection to the northern portion of the South Island today. He reports that the stock is in a satisfactory condition.
