The anniversary of Robert Burns.' birthday was celebrated at the Melbourne Town Hall, on J an. 26, by a national concert. At the Sydney Theatre Royal; last Saturday, a Company, which inclndea Mr Driver, was to produce Uncles and Aunts. ■ Mr Harry Gcibben, who was here a few months ago, ia now underßtudy for Mr Lonnen at the Melbourne Princess' Theatre. Mr Julius Herz, who for many years has conducted the Royal Metropolitan Liedertafel of Melbourne, is about to settle in A'est Australia. At the Melbourne Royal and Princess' the pantomimes are still running. At the Royal Don Giotto, a Spanish whistler, has' been engaged as an additional attraction. Mr Tom Pollard has, it is said, issued | writ claiming £5000 damages from the < | proprietors of the Sydney " Evening ' News/ for stating that he had left chilI dren stranded in Brisbane. > The Lynch family is in New South Wales. Mr George Lynch has been seriously ill, but is now recovered. The Company's latest attraction is the " glassophone," which has a compass of fire octaves. At Her Majesty's Theatre, Sydney, Mr George Rignold was to appear last Monday in London Day by Day. Miss Kate Bishop is leading lady in the Company. Mr Lionel Rignold is to play Harry Ascalon. At Adelaide an attempt is being made to acclimatise the continental method of open air amusements. Mr Basse is the promoter of what arre called " Continentals," which are held in the evenings in the Jubilee Exhibition grounds. The attendance at Miss Clara Merivale's benefit, at the Theatre Royal, Sydney, in the afternoon of Jan. 25, was small. Among those who appeared on the occasion were Mias Emily Soldene, Miss Josephine Deakin, Miss Jennie Lee and Mr James F. Oathcart. ■:<•:'■■.•
