Subscription lists were opened, and canvassers were appointed. j WELLINGTON, Feb. 16. i The present amount of the Evening i Post's Queensland relief fund is £210. j The Manawatu Eailway Company has ■ agreed to carry produce for QueensWfree ' Feb. 17. The Bail way Commissioners desire that . any persons sending by rail goods for the relief of the sufferers in Queensland should consign them to the Queensland Relief Fund. ' NELSON, Feb. 16. The Oddfellows and Foresters' Committee to-night voted the Bum of ten guineas out of the profits of fche Nekon carnival for the sufferers by the Queensland disaster. I TIMAEU, Fbb. 16. The meeting convened by the Mayor relative to the Queensland relief fund was | not largely attended; but influential and energetic men were named as a Canvassing Committee. The three mills to-day shipped, per the Hauroto, a ton of flour each. Contributions will be received in cash or farm produce, the churches will be asked to make a special collection, and the Friendly Societies are invited to emulate each other in charity^ Mr J. B&llantyne sent a cheque for twenty guineas, and other subscriptions made up £87 before the meeting closed. DUNEDIN, Feb. 17. The floods meeting was largely attended. The principal speech was made by Mr Lukin, formerly editor of the Brisbane I Courier, who gave a graphic account of the : devastation. The Mayor acknowledged the receipt of subscriptions amounting to .£llO, exclusive of £50 sent direct to Brisbane by Mesara Beid and Gray. At the meeting JBI2O was subscribed.

A public meeting is to be held at Lyttelton, at an early date, to consider what assistance can be given to the sufferers by the recent floods. The offertories at St Stephen's Church, Ashburton, on Sunday, will be given to the relief fund. A publio meeting, convened by his Worship the Mayor, for the purpose of taking steps to relieve the distress in Queensland, will be held this evening in the Oddfellows' Hall, at eight o'clock. T^he Mayor announces that he will be pleased to see members of the City Council, gentlemen holding pablio positions and representatives oi Friendly Societies on the platform. A meeting of Orangemen also is called for the same hour, to arrange for providing relief. ..".....'. The meeting convened by a section of the Orangemen of Christchurch for tonight, to consider what steps shall be taken to relieve the distress in Queensland, will probably merge into that convened by the Mayor. The Orange Institution is purely a loyal Society, and its members, being citizens in the ordinary sense, acknowledge that it behoves them to join with the other citizens in swelling the fund raised, rather than attempt to raise a sectional fund.
