[Pee Pehbs Association.! WELLINGTON, Feb. , 17. The Board of Land - Purchase Commissioners, under the Land for Settlements Act, will sit shortly in Canterbury and Otago to consider a large number of offers of private land received by the Government The Board consists of the Surveyor-General, the Commissioner of Taxes, the Commissioner of Crown Lands, and the District Land Registrar of the district in which is situated any land proposed to be acquired. The duty of the Board is to ascertain the value, and report as to the demand for settlement in the locality. For the purposes of the Act, the Colonial Treasurer ia empowered to borrow £50,000 in any one year after investigation. The Canterbury Board meets the Otago Board.
