The Auckland Regatta Committee, last night, dismissed the protest entered by the Auckland Rowing Club in one of the recent gig races in the regatta. In connection with this, a letter, considered dictatorial, was received from the Secretary to the New Zealand Rowing Association, upholding the protest, and informing i the Committee that the rules and the | Council's reading of them must be adhered to by every Regatta Committee, and that they must refuse a decision when they disposed of the Auckland Rowing Club's protest. Failing this they would advise the Auckland Rowing Club to take steps to recover th» prize in a Court of law. The Regatta Committee decided to reply, regretting that the New Zealand Bowing Association ■- ; should have thought fit to address an j independent body in such termß.
