MEETING OF DELEGATES.

A meeting of delegates from the various Canterbury Clubs was held at the Clarendon Hotel on Saturday night; present — Mr G. J. C. Smart (local consul to the New Zealand Amateur* Swimming Association) in the chair, Messrs F. W. Hobbs (East Christchurcb), J. C. Lane (Ashburton), J. C. Watson (Christchurch), and W. S. Wharton (St Albans). The water polo rules, as adopted by the English and Scottish Association, were discussed, and passed with a few alterations. It waa agreed that the championships allotted to Canterbury Bhould be held during the week from February 25 to March 4, provided that any competitors were coming from other provinces, otherwise the time should be extended to March 11. It was decided to ask the following gentlemen to act as referees in the polo matches held in Canterbury, viz.: — Messrs W. S. TVharton. W. G. Atacfe, Q. Harris, W. J. i CotteriH, B. M. Cresswell, J. C. Lane, A. Francis and C. H. Croxton. The vaiious Clubs guaranteed to take between them about ninety of the Association's Annual. It was also decided that the various delegates should get the opinion of their ' Clubs as to the desirability of having the Association's head-quarters in Christchurch and to report at a future meeting. Various other matters connected with the working of all the Canterbury Clubs' sports and races were also discussed. The Chairman draw the delegates' attention to the rule with reference to costumes, and intimated that the rule would have to be strictly observed this season.
