THE FIRE BRIGADES. LONDON, Nov. 26. The International Fire Brigade Exhibition has been postponed till' August next. SCULLING. George Bubear, of England, and Hosmer, the Toronto Sculler, will row for the Championship of th& Thames in January. THE CHICAGO EXHIBITION. The Pacific and Oceanic SteamshipCompany has arranged to contract forthe conveyance of New South Walesexhibits for the Chicago Exhibition. Dr Rebwick, the New South Wales Executive Commissioner to the Exhibition, who has just returned to London, has advised that the R.M.S Alameda is too small for the purpose. A THEATRE BURNED. The Lincoln Theatre has been burned down. DISAFFECTION. The harness of the 4th Hussars, stationed at Colchester, has been cut, and a recruit has been arrested in connection with the affair. SANITATION. Nov. 27. It is reported that it has been decided to compel the authorities to exhume the dead buried in London churches, and re-bury them at Great Ilford, in Essex. The Health Officeris urging that this course should be adopted. A NEW RAILWAY. A railway in Spain, from Bobadilla de Riaseco to Djecirras, which brings London within sixty hours of Gibraltar, is completed. Immense difficulties had to be overcome in the construction of the line, which has occupied four years in. building. FIRE. NEW YOKE, Nov. 26. The summer residence of. Vanderbilt in Newport has been destroyed by fire. The damage is estimated at .£60,000. CANADIAN POLITICS. OTTAWA, Nov. 26. * Mr J. J. C. Abbott, the Premier, has resigned, on the ground of illhealth, and Sir J. S. D. Thompson,. Minister for Justice, is forming a new Cabinet. UNITED STATES. WASHINGTON, Nov. 2G. Mr Edward J. Phelps, who was the United States Minister in London when Cleveland was last President* is mentioned as likely to be appointed Secretary of State. MR BLAINE'S ILLNESS. Mr J. G. Elaine has suffered a relapse, and his medical advisers now regard his condition as very critical. [Teb Fbess Association. 1 A LARGE ESTATE. WELLINGTON, Nov. 27. The value of the estate left in NewZealand by the Hon A. G. Tollemache was £464,201 15a lid, on which £35,640 duty is payable to the Government. SUPEEME COURT. The Supreme Court criminal sessions which open to-morrow will betaken by the Chief Justice. The most serionacharges are those against JFiuley and Scale for murder, arising out of an affray 'on the Waterloo Quay, and an alleged attempt at ' procuring abortion by Wm, Syms, chemist, of Woodville. BLENHEIM, Nov. 26. At the Supreme Court to-day the appeal case, Philpotta v. Hyde wbb dismissed with costs.- The divorce case, Wella v. Wells, of Havelock.andM'Kenna, at present of Glenomaru, the husband's petition, was concluded. There was no appearance of the respondent or co-respondent. A decree nisi waß granted, to be made absolute at the termination of three months.
