ADDINGTON YARDS.
— •- — THIS DAT. ' The welcome shower this morning had laid the dust, and made the yards very ! pleasant. Only a small entry of stock was 1 i yarded, sheep being an exceptionally small section of the market. Store Sheep. — Less than 1000 stores were penned, but owing to the immense i growth of feed there was a strong demand ' for good sorts of ewes with lambs and young cross-breds all of which were cleared at satisfactory rates. Shorn twotooth cross-breds Bold freely at 12s, 12s 3d and 12s 6d, and some four-tooths in the wool brought 16s 9d. A line of crosß-bred ewes in the wool, with a small percentage of lambs, brought 16s 9d, and an exceptionally good line of four and six-tooth and sound mouthed cross-bred ewes with 130 per cent J very fine lambs, which had been sent down from the Ashburton district, realised 265, all counted. Merino ewes, with cross-bred lambs ab foot, sold at up to 12s 9d, all counted. Fat Lambs.— About 1200 were yarded, all of which met with a ready sale at from 9s 3d to 13s, one Bmall line selling above the latter price. Pat Sfbep. — With the exception of a few merino wethers, all the yarding in this section consisted of shorn sheep. There were very few to choose from, and nothing of very special quality. Freezing operations being still suspended at Belfast, there was no outside competition against the trade, but the demand exceeded the supply, and for good sorts there was a decided advance. Among the saleß effected the disposal of some sixty-fire pound cross-bred ewes at 15s 6d affords the best criterion of the state of the market. Merino wethers in the wool brought from 9s. to 13a 6d, according to quality. Fat Cattle. — A large entry met with a fair sale, which was stimulated to some extent by the deficiency in the sheep. For best quality Bteers, of which there were several prime lots from the Peninsula, including those of Messrs W. Birdling and P. Callaghan, from £1 10 ato £9 5s was willingly given, and all the lines were cleared at a trifle over £1 per 1001 b. The sale of heifers was limited, some nice handy sized heifers selling at from £6 to £t ss. The sale of cows also was limited, but all the entry waß cleared at satisfactory rates. Stork Cattle. — About 100 head were yarded, all of which met with a willing market. Yearling to eighteen-month-old cattle brought from 45s to 595, and others in proportion. A large number of secondquality milking cows brought from £2 15s to £6, and one or two really superior cows brought from £7 10s to £8 10a. Pigs. — Under 100 head were easily disposed of at improved rates, baconers Belling well at 3jd to 3|d a lb, and porker realising fully 4d a lb. A number of stores Sold at ruling values.
