The Elections.
[Special to !Pbkßs Association.] LONDON July 15. In the elections the Unionists gain Wick District((Sir John Pender). The Liberals Ruin Inverness District (Mr M'Gregor). The former members have teen re-elected for North Sligo, CJamborne, Faversham, Essex, Southeastern Linlithgowshire, North Tipperary, Brecknockshire, West Cavan, Sooth Gal way. Mr M. Davitt has been elected for North Meath, Mr M'Ghiire (a Parnellite) h^inp elected for North Clare. In the election for the Northwest Division of Norfolk, Mr Joseph March, Liberal, defeated Lord Henry Bentinck, th« former Conservative member, by 1929. Sir Charles Dilke lad a majority of 2400. The polling will finish on Monday. July 16. The Conservatives gain • Wilton' (Lord Folkstone). The Liberals gain Louth (Mr Perks) and Buckroae (Mr Holden). The former members are re-elected for Flintshire, the western division o£ Momnoutb, Wisbech, Cheßter le Street, South Donegal, Ilkestone, Melton, Anglesey, Ayles"bury, Horaham, Cockermouth, North Tyrone, Merionethshire, St Austell, East Gianmorganshire, Cardiganshire, North ©üblin, South Wexford and East Somerset. The Conservatives have returned members for Southwest Norfolk (Mr Jjlare), Kingston (Mr Temple), Asbford (Mr Hardy). The Nationalists have won South JLeitrim (Mr Tully), South Fermanagh (Mr M*G-illigan) and North Longford (Mr Justin M'Carfchy.) Mr M'Laren, Home Euler, has been elected for Bosworth. The Sight Hon A. J. Balfour, speaking sit Glasgow, said he feared that a Gladstone Government would destroy the extension of the Empire in Africa. The outlook in Enrope, he thought, showed that great events were at hand, which were calculated to touch British interests disastrously ; but if feeble in office the Unionists would be sufficiently strong to prevent any serious evil resulting to the cause of tho Union. Messrs Keir, Hardie and Cunning-ham-Gran ame are organising a Labour opposition to Mr Morley's re-election. Mr Gladstone's re-election is almost certain to be opposed. Messrs Cox and VicaTy Gibbs were nominated for the St AlbaDs seat. The latter offered to retire in order that Mr Eitchie might be returned for the constituency, but Mr Cox declined to withdraw. The election therefore took place, resulting in the return of Mr Gibbs by a majority of 800 over his opponent, who stood in the Home Rule interest. ADELAIDE, July 17. The Irish National Federation has cabled the sum of .£250 to assist the supporters of Mr Justm M'Carthy at the elections.
