AUCKLAND, July 18. j The following telegram has been fcent to < the Chairman of the Private Bills Com- | mittee of the House cf Representatives : — •' "I protest, on behalf of a number of Wesleyan Methodists, against tie further progress of the Methodist Bill this session. , First, it has been advertised only once in j the Government Gazette of May 19. It ■ should have been advertised in the New Zealand Methodist paper, as the Methodists ; of New Zealand do not know its contents. Secondly, the promoters exceeded the in- ; structions of the general Conference, . which stipulated a limit of five years ; in Clause 3. Thirdly, it proposes the j repeal of Clause 11 of John Wesley's - deed poll, enrolled in Chancery, in j 1764, which Act was incorporated in 'The I Methodist Conference Aot, 1876/ dele- ■ gating certain powers to the Colonial * Conference — see Clause 7 of the Act." j — — — ■ !
