— O' [Pee Press Association.! WELLINGTON, Jult 16. Mr Justice Richmond gave judgment ia. an action wheri?in v " tied" house figured prominently. Tiie plaintiff had bought an. hotel from Staples ;»ud Co., brewers,, andgave a bill of sale and mortgagees security, wherein it was stipulated he should get Colonial beer from the defendants! He paid oil the debt and demanded a release, but the defendants contended that payment did not release him from his bond to deal with them only, although in the bill of sale the covenant applied only to the continuance of the security. In the mortgage it was not, bo stipulated. His Hcnor commented strongly on the practice oE inserting collateral advantages ia euch instruments, and said that registrars ought to refuse to receive them. The security having been released, the covenant was at an end, and he gave judgment for plaintiff, with costs. His Honor added that it was open to argument whether such a contractwas not really void.
