♦ THE NEW ZEALAND TEAM IN ENGLAND. [Special to Pbkss Association.] LONDON, June 11. ~ At Tuffnell Park there was a great and cordial gathering, and an enthusiastic welcome was extended to the New Zealand amateur athletic team. The grass track was in first-class condition, and capable of fast time being registered. In the lOOjds Handicap Cuff, the manager of the team, was unplaced in his heat. In the Half-mile D. Wood fell. In the 440yds P. Wood, who was at scratch, failed to gain a place in his heat. In the 100yds J. Hempton, scratch, was second, the time of the winner being lOsec. In the 440yds Hurdles H. Batger, from scratch, finished second, the time being 61sec. The general opinion of critics ia that the New Zealand ers are capable of greater things later on.
