FOOTBALL.
* SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. At Lancaster Park, on Saturday, East Christchurcli and Linwood played a very close game, which the former won by a try to nil, and an interesting game between Christchureh and Merivale resulted in favour of the latter by fourteen points to four. At Sydcnham, Canterbury College defeated a very weak team of the Sydenham Club by thirty-eight points to nine.
JUNIOR FLAG. The match between the unbeaten Cambridge toam and Merivale Second took place on the North Park, and resulted in a j win for Cambridge by ten points to nil. Canterbury College Second v. Lihi wood Second. — This game resulted in »n | easy victory for the former by twenty-nine ! points to four. The Junior Flag match between Lyttelton and Sydenham Second resulted in a j win for Lyttclton by five points to two. ; The Christchurch Second defeated tho ( Christ's College team on Saturday, after a : very interesting game, by eighteen points : to nil. ] »___•_
■ PRESIDENT'S CUP. I The match Pirates First v. Christ's College Second was played on the ground of the former at Addington, and, after a most enioyable game, resulted in a win for the Pirateß by forty-eight points to nil. I At the Eangiora Recreation Ground on Saturday the Third Fifteen of the Christi church Club played a match with the North Canterbury Second Fifteen, and won by seventeen points to nil. , The Sydenham Third defeated the Boys' High School by twenty-one points to five Merivale Third beat East Christchurch Third by two goals seven tries (twentyfour points) to nothing.
OTHER MATCHES. The match between the Lin wood Fourth Fifteen and Waltham resulted i n a draw each side scoring a try. ' The StAibans ach ° o1 P layed a match with the Durham Second on Saturday and won by eight points to six. ' The match between the Durham First Fifteen and United resulted in a win for he former by sixteen points to two.
The Normal School defeated the West 1 Christchurch School by six points to nil. The Lyttelton Second defeated the Christchurch Fourth by two points to nil. The match Albion First v. Pirates Second resulted in a win for the former by nine points to five. In the match between Ashburtcn and Southbridge, played on the former's ground on Saturday, the local team won by seventeen points.
