DISASTROUS FIRE IN NEW TORK; 100 LIVES LOST, [Special to Press Association. 1 NEW YOEK, Feb. 8. The Royal Hotel has been destroyed by lire. Two hundred of the gneats and employees lost their lives, while a number of others who attempted to escape by jumping from the windows were killed. The Royal Hotel was a six-storied building. The fire began in the cellar. The latest reports reduce the number estimated to have perished to a hundred. Shocking scenes occurred during the progress of the fire. A driver on the elevated railway detected tbe fire in the Royal Hotel at two o'clock in the morning. He -stopped the train, whistled loudly, and woke up the inmates of the Arailding. The life-saving corps worked splendidly.
