LYTTELTON.
This day. (Before H. Allwright, Esqs.) A Wealthy "Drunk." —Jane Haslook, a very old offender, was charged with bting drunk. Sergeant O'Alalley stated that when accused was arrottod she had no !esu a sum than J3IOG in her possession. The woman had been taken in charge as much to protect her money as anything else, i'or she was going about the town with some ci' tho notc3 in her hands. His Wowhip expressed a wish that tho law allowed lira to send her to gat'l for twelve months. He advieed her to hand her money over to certain ladies in the place, who were already understood to hold money in trust for hnr. She would be fined 40s or in default fourteen days' imprisonment.
