[Special to Pehss Association.] CALCUTTA, Jan. 12. Bravo, winner of the Melbourne Cup in 1889, is dead.

[Pbb Pbsss Association. I AUCKLAND, Jan. 13. The Committee of the Auckland Trotting Club met for the purpose of considering the protest lodged by Sir A. E. Green, of Nelaon, owner of Rarus, who finished second to Brandy in the Auckland Trotting Cup, against the stakes being paid over to the owner of the latter, on the ground that the horse Brandy had performed under another name in Sydney. The Stewards postponed consideration of the protest for a week, in order to allow Mr Green to produne evidence in support of his protest. News has been received from Sydney of the death of A. Sutherland, a well-known jockey, formerly living in Auckland.
