The Bootmakers' Difficulty.
TPbr Pfcßßs Association.] WELLINGTON, Oct. 17. The delegates from the Bootmakers' Unions in various parts of the Colonj held a meeting last night. Ib lasted till six o'clock this morning. Nothing was arrived at, and a farther meeting is to be held to-day. There is said to be a probability of a general Btrike of bootmakers through- : out the Colony. i The cause of the difference between the bookmakers and the employers is the new statement which baa been drawn up, and - it is said that the point on which the ' parties cannot agree is in regard to the ' clause which provides that the Board of ' Conciliation shall consist of four repre- i sentativea- from each side. Extreme ' reticence is observed in the matter, but it ' is understood that it is the men who take ' jbjection to the clause. The relations be- * ;ween the men and the employers are said 1 ;o be very strained, and a strike is ] thought to be imminent.
