FIRES AT GISBORNE.

Incendiarism Suspected. [Pbb Pbkus Association.] GISBOENE, Oct. 16. Last night a fifteen-roomed house, which was being erected for Lieutenant-Colonel Porter, was destroyed by fire. The builder was J. Ponsford, who stated that the house would have been completed in three weeks' time. He is insured in the New Zealand office for £450, but estimates his loss at .£IOO above that sum. The origin of the fire ia a mystery. Last week another house nearing completion was destroyed in a similar manner, and it is thought there must be an incendiary about. An enquiry will be held to-morrow.
