He , opposed the niotion, however, on the I ground that the Bill confiscated reserves, and there was reserve at Akaroa ; endangered. Mr G. F; Richardson praised his own i administration of lands, and deprecated ■ Mr M'Kenzie's frequent strictures. Mr Ballance swept Mr Bichardson off his . argumentative feet, and said Mr Bichardson , only aimed at puttiag his big friends on big estates, and tried to ruin the village settlement scheme, which, however, had survived and flourished. Mr Bichardson had a slight encounter with Mr Mackenzia.. Mr Hutohison objected to the absence of a right of purchase, and, after a rather dreary discussion, the House getting worn out, the motion was carried at 3.20. Five minutes afterwards, progress was reported and the House adjourned. The Rabbit Fence Stock Committee of the Upper House, approves of the erection of the fences asked for by a deputation the other day..
