Mr Justice Chitty has ordered the English Bank of the Biver Plate to be wound up. The Gold Coinage Bill has passed through Committee in the House of Commons. The measure provides for the loss of three grains in each coin. Evidence taken before the Committee showed that many . coins were lightened otherwise than by fair wear.

The Court of Appeal has decided that consignees cannot recovei damages from a shipowner foi t delay in the delivery oE goods, owing <■— to a strike in the Colonies or India.
