Women's Christian Temperance Union.

« — The monthly meeting of this Union was held at the Coffee Booms yesterday afternoon, Mrs Richardecn presiding. There was a fair attendance. It was reported that the series of franchise meetings had been held, and badarouted some interest. It was stated that it was intended to take up the work of scientific temperance instruction in schools, and it was hoped that the late President of the Lyttelton Union, who was now resident in Christchnrch, would act as Superintendent. An address by Mrs Wallace, of America, on the absurdity of allowing one half of the residents of a country to govern the other half, especially where moral and social questions are concerned, was read.
