WORK AND WAGES.
fSPKCIAL TO PBKSS ASSOCIATION.] LONDON, June 10. There is no change in the position - of. affairs in connection with the strike -of omnibus men. CANTERBURY EMPLOYERS' ASSOCIATION. A full meeting of the Executive Committee was held yesterday. The principal < buainesa was to receive a report from the ■Parliamentary Committee on the various Labour Bills about to be introduced into 1 Parliament. The Committee brought for--watd an exhaustive report dealing' with the .-clauses in the various Bills. This was adopted. The Executive considered that certain of the provisions would, if given effect to, prove vexatious and harassing, and would restrict and cripple manufacture and trades so seriously as to contract ike operations of those employing labour, -and thereby reduce the amount of work available for the wage-earners. It was considered that manufacturing industries andvtrade generally had for some time past been in snch a depressed condition that -any discouraging legislation would . certainly result in closing many manufactures and workshops, and thus injure instead of benefiting the working classes, -in whose interests the Bills were being promoted. The meeting expressed its opinion that if employment was to be found or the masses, manufactures and trades , bonld be encouraged and not crushed.
