DUNEDIN, June 9,

The Green Island Hotel, owned by J. Tooiney and occupied by D. Richardson, was burnfc down early this morning. The occupants had 6onxe difficulty in making their escape, the children having to be taken by a ladder from the balcony. The fire is supposed to have been caused by the high wind blowing the embers of the fire in the bar parlour on to the floor. The building was insured for .£650 in the Standard Office, and the stock and furniture for £4W in tho National. AUCKLAND, June 9. The residence of Heury M'Fadden, Otahuhu, waa burned early this morning through the capsizing of a kerosene lamp. The house is insured in the Royal for .£IOO and the furniture in the Imperial for £100.
