The following members were present — Mr Louisaon (in the chair), Messrs Murphy, Parker, Booth, Brown, and the Rev J. Chadowski.j The Inspector's report stated that last month a conviction was obtained against the owner of a horae for allowing it to be driven while suffering from sores, a fine of £5 being inflicted. A case of starving a horse had been brought under his notice, but it had been found, owing 4o disputed ownership, that no case could lie. The summary of cautions given during May was :— |Eight for cruelly handling or carrying poultry, eight for driving lame horses, one for driving a horse with sores, two for beating animals, one for driving a cow overstocked to market, one for with* holding food, one for driving two horses and carts ; and forty-seven horsea had been examined for wounds. The report was adopted. Mr W. Recce wrote stating he found it impossible to attend the meetings ofjtheCommittee, and tendered his resignation. He stated that he would still take as much interest as ever in the work of the Society. i The resignation was accepted with regret. Mr Murphy brought up the question relegated from the general meeting in regard to making application for half the fines imposed in cases brought to light by i the interference of the Society. After discussion it was decided that, in lien of asking for any parb of the fines, the Government be asked for a subsidy towards the funds of the Society, such subsidy to be a proportional amount to the voluntary subscriptions. On the motion of Mr Brown it was resolved that the Government be requested to appoint the members of the Committee special rangers for the purposes of the Association. The Inspector stated that the "Kindhearted Brigade" had commenced its work. The meeting then adjourned.
