Lyttelton Borough Council.

The fortnightly meeting of tbie Council was held last nighfc. Present — His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. B. MUeodi), Councillors i Allwiight, M'Lellan, Thompson, Brice, j Laurenson and Cook. Leave of absence was granted to Councillor Joyce FINANCE. The Finance Committee reported receipts since last meeting £192 Cs sd, and recommended payment; of accounts amounting to £1-17 14s sd. KEPOBTB. The reports of tho Works Committee and the foreman were read. The matter of arranging tor a further supply of road metal was left in the hands of the Committee, as •was also the purchase of another horse. It wa3 stated that twenty-one men, outside tho Council's ordinary employees, were now engaged, and nineteen of tuese were on pieue work. It was decided to renew the trees in the plantation close to the Dampier's Bay aud Sumner road, where they had previously failed. The Water Supply Committee appliad for an extension of time to report upon the proposed extension. Tho Bathing Committee suggested several minor improvements to tho bathing place, which were adopted. The Colonists* Hall Cotnj mittee recommended certain reductions, J which were to apply to local engagements only, and these were adopted. TENDEB. For ploughing, fencing and planting the reserve in the Ashburfcon district the tender of Mr T. Scaly, at J6172 103, waß accepted. MISCELLANEOUS. Councillor M'Lellan called attention to the bad state of the Bridlepath, and it- waß decided to effect repairs. j Councillor Webb urged the necessity for ! a heavy road-roller, and the matter was I referred to the Works Committee. I The Mayor spoke on the question of j widening the footpath on the Dampier's 1 Bay road, and this was also referred to j the Works Committee. ' The meeting then terminated. i
