I commissioned officers of the North Canter- ( j bury Volunteer Corps, which took place _ I laßt night in the Scottish Rifles' Orderly- ' I room, was a very pleasant affair. The chair was occupied by Colour-Sergeant Smith, of the College Rifles, and the vicechair by Colour-Sergeant Phillips, of the L Scottish. Two non-commissioned officers L of Marines and a few blue jackets from ) ■ H.M.S. Curagoa were present. The toasts . ; drunk were : " The Queen," " The Army j and Navy," " The Officerß," " The Ladieß," i and " The Preßs."
