ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
An accident happened at Lyttelton yesterday to a labourer named William Henderson. He was engaged on board the barque Minnyhive, assisting to discharge cornsaoks, when a bale rolled on to his kg and broke it. He was taken to his home, and attended by Dr Pairman.

The slip on the Gorge line has been cleared away, and ballast trains are now running right through.
BftUNNERTON, Jan. 12.
After the train had been brought to a standstill, at five o'clock, Mrs R. Smith got out with a child in her arm 3, leaving -one on the platform of the carriage. The train started with a j«rk, throwing the child underneath the wheels. The child's head was ccushed.
