SPORTING

♦ [Per Peesb Association.] AUCKLAND, Dec. 17. The weather was somewhat boisterouß this morning. A good morning's work was done at Ellerslie. But little rain fell during the night, and as the tracks arc in a hard state the greater number of the horses are working on the plough. The first to appear was Dudu, who was sent twice round at three-quarter pace, and moved very well. Crackshot, who j appears to be in excellent condition, accomplished a like task. St Andrew and Medallion, who were associated for about j two miles, worked satisfactorily. Strephon Eeprisal, and several others also did good work. For the Auckland Cup a small parcel of 3 to 1 was quoted about Hilda to-day, but nob accepted. Other quotations are : sto 1 Crackshot, 6 to 1 Strephon and Medallion, 8 to 1 Dudu, 15 to 1 Leorina, 10 to 1
