Popular Spoets. — A general meeting of the Popular Sports Association was held at the City Council Office last evening. There was a good attendance, and the chair was occupied by Mr H. Crooks. The following tenders for the privileges in connection with the sports gathering on Anniversary Day were accepted :— Confectioner's booths, James Eobinaon, JBI7 103 ; right of selling fruit, James Eobinson, £2 103. One tender was received for the publican's booths, but being considered too low, it was resolved that these privi- ! leges be sold by public auction on Thursday. Mr T. Sfcapleton waß appointed Marshal and Mr C. H. Winney Deputy Marshal of the procession in connection with the sports. The matter of arranging the order of procession was left in the hands of the President and the marshals. After discussion it was resolved that the tableau competition be open to all-comers. It was reported that a large number of entries had already been received for the athletic events, and that in all probability the number would be very largely augmented. It was resolved that the judging of the tableaux take place in Latimer square before the starting of the procession. The Ground Committee reported that the track was being placed in order.
