Kaiapoi Borough Council.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the Kaiapoi Borough. Council was held on Tuesday night ; present— The Mayor, Mr C. Hansen, and Councillors Blakeley, Weston, Stanton, Bugg, Uoubleday, Butts, Lißßaman and Brighting. Councillor W. Anderson, tha new-elected Councillor, took the customary declaration, and his seat. Letters were read— From Dt Parsons, certifying that the foreman was still too ill to return to work. From the Eyreton Eoad Board re registering some dogs belonging to the Borough. From Messrs Oaborne, Danks, and Taylor and Oakley re sinking a deep well on the Railway reserve. It was resolved to refer Dr Parsous' letter to the Works Committee. Councillor Stanton moved, and Councillor Butt seconded—" That the Clerk interview the owner of the dogs referred to by the Eyreton Road Board, and inform him that unless he registers them in the Borough he will be summoned." Councillor Doubleday reported, for the Works Committee, that damage was being done to the embankments by stray cattle ; the Ranger was neglecting his duty, and the Foreman of Works was still very unwell. The report was adopted. Councillor Weston reported, for tho Finance Committee :— Eeceipts for the past fortnight, £42 lUs; general account, debit, £516 18s 9d ; loan account, credit, £182 2s ; deposits, £2 ; and recommended that accounts be paid amounting to £28 03 Id. He reported that defaulting ratepayers were to be balloted for to-morrow. It was resolved to call for tenders for the supply of dog collars, and that notice of dismissal be given to the present Ranger, and applications be invited for the position. Councillor W. Anderson was elected a member of the Works and Cheque-signing Committees. This terminated the business.
