His Excellency the Governor.
• [Per Press Association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, Dec. 10. His Excellency the Governor made a semi-official visit to New Plymouth, arriving with Mr J. M. Paulton, M.P. for the Bishop Auckland division of Durham, by express train from Wellington last night. He was received at the station by Colonel Stapp, the Mayor and Borough Councillors. The Mayor, in a short speech, welcomed the Governor on his first visit. They then drove to the White Hart Hotel, where His Excellency is stopping. Arrangements were made for a visit to the mountain, and Lord Onslow, with a party of gentlemen, left for there at eight o'clock this morning. The Governor leavea for a visit round the coast to-morrow morning.
