Non-Arrival of the 'Frisco Mail.
♦ IFsb Peebb Association. J AUCKLAND, Dec. 8. The mail Bteamer Zealandia is two days overdue from San Francisco. There is no Bign of her as yet, and it is feared that she haa broken down at sea through some accident to her machinery.
Yachting.— A yacht race was sailed in Lyttelton Harbour on Saturday afternoon, the contestants being Mascotte, Madge, Neva and Myrtle. Mascottewos comfortably, notwithstanding the fact that some of her rivals were allowed very fair starts. Personal.— Mr L. Partridge, an exhibiting member of the Canterbury Society o£ Arts, left Christchurch on Saturday, to take up his first abode in Sydney prior to a general tour of the world. He is the youngest son of Mr J. T. Partridge of this city, and has thoroughly mastered the trade of a practical jeweller with hia brothers, and will follow it for a time in his new home. As an amateur painter he has succeeded well and will doubtleES be heard of more frequently in that capacity. He is also much devoted to the study of history and antiquity, in which latter science, his uncle, Mr E. P. Partridge, the well-known antiquarian, has made such a same in .England.
